Networked hybrid rollers at Hagedorn.

Technological lead extended.

With two new hybrid rollers and the digital networking system “BOMAP Connect”, Hagedorn AG is the first Swiss construction company to use the latest compaction technology on its road construction sites.

"With BOMAP Connect, we have even better control over compaction. The roller operators can directly influence the passes and the corresponding compaction quality via the continuously updated display." Daniel Murer, surveyor and specialist for digital construction sites

Efficient thanks to hybrid

This innovative tandem roller combines a new hydraulic energy recovery system with the diesel engine and ASPHALT MANAGER to create a highly efficient drive unit. The BW 174 AP pivot-steered hybrid roller reduces diesel consumption by up to two litres per hour and CO2 emissions by around a quarter. The combination of particulate filter, oxidation catalyst and a cooled exhaust gas recirculation system enables the 10 t machine to run even without additives such as AdBlue. This has a positive effect on both operating costs and the environment.

A head start in digitisation

For managing director Roman Kohler, the BOMAG machines with their smart measuring technology and surface covering compaction control are also an important prerequisite for the digitisation of construction sites. “BOMAP is the new mobile solution that allows you to document compaction results on site in real time. We are the first Swiss construction company to use the BOMAP Connect add-on. The two new hybrid rollers are networked with the other rollers via GPS. This generates a complete compaction map of the construction site. Digitisation is ground-breaking for medium and large asphalt construction sites, because the software also ensures detailed logging of the entire compaction process. That’s why we have already ordered two additional hybrid rollers with BOMAP Connect from Probst Maveg for the next surfacing season,” explains Kohler.

Quality through information

Daniel Murer, surveyor and specialist for digital construction sites at Hagedorn AG: “BOMAP Connect gives us even greater control over compaction. The roller operators can directly influence the passes and the corresponding compaction quality via the continuously updated display,” says Murer. The system increases productivity and minimises the risks of follow-up costs such as over or under-compaction.

Industry leader

The Hagedorn AG construction company from Pfäffikon, Schwyz, has been in business around Lake Zurich for over 80 years. The family business employs over 230 people and specialises in road construction and civil engineering. Other core competencies include excavation and demolition work, recycling building materials, works with the suction excavator, mastic asphalt, sealing, or winter service on the A3. Thanks to the long-standing cooperation with Probst Maveg and the use of high-tech compaction from BOMAG, Hagedorn is one of the most innovative industry leaders in the asphalt paving sector.

BOMAP upgrade: BOMAP Connect.

With the BOMAP Connect upgrade, all machines involved in the compaction process can be networked and monitored. The system works independently of the manufacturer and displays the entire fleet's compaction results in real time.
