Overview

Simply mill, mix, stabilize.

Modern tractors have impressive engine power: they can now also be used for heavy earthmoving work. A tractor-towed planer can be driven directly via the rear PTO shaft. The advantages of this combination are plain to see: the investment is low, the system is very light and highly manoeuvrable, and a tractor can also perform other tasks on the construction site, resulting in high annual capacity utilisation.

Stabilization is often the most sensible and sometimes the only option, both economically and ecologically. The German Closed Substance Cycle and Waste Management Act stipulates that no soil that can be re-used on the construction site should be driven away. Stabilization eliminates the need to replace non-load-bearing soils. This process removes moisture from the material by mixing in binders (mix-in-place method), thus improving the compaction properties and load-bearing capacity. By mixing in cement, even unstable soils can be made load-bearing.

On smaller construction sites, in particular, using a tractor-towed planer makes more and more sense. The milling and stabilizer units are an ideal addition to the fleet for construction and service companies involved in earthmoving or soil replacement operations.

Fields of application

Stabilizing and recycling reinforces subsoils and allows the replacement of damaged bitumen road surface layers.

BOMAG tractor-towed stabilizer are particularly suitable for smaller construction projects, pavement and road building as well as for embankments and backfilling.

The tractor can be used for a wide range of practical purposes, e.g. to pull the binder spreader, the water tank or the tractor-towed stabilizer. A tractor-towed stabilizer can be used to mix in binders or stabilize and improve non-load-bearing soils.

Cutting-edge technology for fast service.

As with BOMAG’s large stabilizers, the RS 250-2 uses the unique BMS 15 L exchange holder system. The cutters and tool holders can be replaced quickly and separately as required. The advantage: very short service times. The system stands out for its low wear and long service life.

Cutting tools in carbide quality.

Thanks to cutting tools with a 22 mm shaft diameter, the planer is well equipped for a wide range of applications. It can be equipped with the following cutting tool variants BRT 04 (e.g. for cohesive soils), BRT 03 (e.g. for gravel and sandy soils), and BRT 01 (standard, suitable for asphalt).

Easy coupling to the tractor.

Coupling to the tractor is simple via the 3-point hitch (category 3 or 4). The milling depth can be adjusted easily and variably with the hydraulic lower link.
Power transmission to the rotor is via the PTO shaft, gearbox and a five-part power belt.

Full power with 1,000 revolutions.

The drive train is suitable for standard-size PTO shafts (1¾ inch). At maximum milling depth, the PTO shaft has to overcome an angle of only 2 degrees. The required input speed is 1,000 rpm.

2.1 m working width and 50 cm milling depth? No problem!

Thanks to a very strong belt drive, the RS 250-2 tractor-towed planer can easily achieve milling depths of up to 50 cm. The working width of the BOMAG tractor-towed planer is 2.1 m.

Easy working on embankment edges and around obstacles.

The single-sided rotor drive reduces maintenance.
The tractor-towed planer is perfectly balanced thanks to the 3-point off-centre hitch. The machine features a zero side–a decisive advantage when working directly alongside obstacles.

Extremely durable, thanks to wear-resistant steel.

The mixing chamber is particularly robust. The hood is made entirely of wear-resistant steel with 400 HB (Brinell hardness). The large, hydraulically adjustable tailgate makes it easy to adjust the crushing and mixing quality.
