BOMAG myCOCKPIT wins German Design Award.

Boppard, 10 Feb 2023: With myCOCKPIT, BOMAG is setting new standards in the operation of construction machinery: the intuitive 3-way operating concept has now been presented with the 2023 German Design Award. The expert jury selected BOMAG as the winner in the categories “Excellent Product Design” and “Human Machine Interface”. On 3 February 2023, the German Design Council honoured all winners at an award show in Frankfurt am Main.

"The German Design Award is a great recognition of our new driver’s workplace and the crowning glory for our development project,” says a delighted Timo Löw, Head of Systems Engineering at BOMAG. “With the innovative operating concept, we want to achieve a balance between the familiar and proven operation of our machines and new technologies. Users of our machines should feel completely at ease and be able to do a demanding job. One key aspect here is that myCOCKPIT's display and operation can be adapted very individually to the operator's preferences.”

Future-oriented: myCOCKPIT – BOMAG's latest innovation – combines smart interaction with more scope for individual operating preferences. myCOCKPIT offers a choice of three equally intuitive operating concepts. Operators decide for themselves how to control the tandem roller – by touchscreen, rotary pushbutton switch or classic joystick. Also delighted with the award are the agencies Loew Design and Create Next, who worked closely together with BOMAG on the design.

The German Design Award jury particularly praised the modern, user-centred design of myCOCKPIT’s operating system, which makes controlling construction machinery easier and more convenient thanks to its intuitive 3-way interaction concept. Regardless of whether the machine operators have many years of professional experience or are still learning the ropes:

BOMAG shows with myCOCKPIT that there is room for both familiar and new digital interaction options. Operators require no retraining for the latest tandem rollers and can familiarise themselves with the extended digital operating options directly on the job.

The user-centred operating concept is consistently applied to all levels of myCOCKPIT: the operator can configure the touch interface individually and specify default settings.

These are stored in personal user profiles and enable the machine to adjust to the individual operator at the touch of a button so that they immediately feel "at home" on their roller.
