BOMAG look to the future at PLANTWORX

Throughout its 60+ years BOMAG has never been a company to stand still. At Plantworx 2019 BOMAG will exhibit both innovative new products and improved models across its range of milling, paving, compaction and ground stabilization equipment on a static stand and on an adjacent ‘demo’ area. BOMAG’s theme for the exhibition will be #Think Further showing how BOMAG delivers ‘tomorrow’s technology today’. Visitors to stands K5 and K6 will be able to see new and improved models, advanced concept machines, and to engage in social media activities and to learn more about BOMAG’s Apps, aftermarket support and end-user finance.

Exhibits to be shown for the first time in the UK after being revealed at Bauma in April include an autonomous concept machine called the BW 154 ROBOMAG, an electric BW 120 ADe which has zero emissions and the BW 174 AP Hybrid which is now in production. Two radio-controlled machines with #ZeroHAV will be on display, a BMP 8500 trench roller with ECOMODE and ECONOMIZER and a BPH 8065S high performance vibrating plate. The two radio-controlled machines will be exhibited on the stand’s demonstration area alongside other exhibits. The new BF 200 City paver will also be on show.

At the exhibition hi-tech ‘pods’ will enable visitors to interact with four BOMAG Apps including the Plantworx Innovation Gold award winner BOMAP which enables users to monitor and document passes via GPS for any roller, regardless of make. The results can be exported as a PDF which shows the user the compaction performance achieved on the job-site in a transparent and comprehensive way. The other time saving Apps are the BOMAG Service App, the BOMAG TELEMATIC App and the digital ‘Service Communication Platform’ which was shown to the press at Hillhead 2018. BOMAG is a pioneer in the construction equipment market by providing a range of Solutions for customers in the ‘digital age’. The BOMAG Service App, available for Android and iOS devices as a free download, provides customers with the ability to quickly find suitable spare parts, call up operating and maintenance instructions, find where the nearest BOMAG dealer is and have access to informative service videos. A quick scan of the QR code on your BOMAG’s serial number plate is all that’s needed to access a wealth of useful information on the convenient App.

BOMAG TELEMATIC is available on iOS, Android and web applications making it both convenient and versatile to use. The advanced POWER system offers the following functions which help users optimise their fleet and control costs:

  • Location tracking 24×7
  • Geo-Fence (a warning is triggered if the machine leaves a defined area)
  • Monitoring of standing time
  • Recording of operating hours
  • Service and maintenance planning
  • Total and average fuel consumption over time
  • Utilisation of capacity and efficiency
  • Idle running control
  • Alarm warnings i.e. low oil pressure, high water temperature etc.

With the ‘Remote Service Assistant’, end-user and dealer service technicians can request direct support from experts. Whenever required, development engineers investigate the problem personally and find a solution live and directly on site. This saves time, travel costs, and downtime. In addition, the service case can be fully retraced and documented for all parties. The platform stores all files centrally and securely, including text, image and video files as well as the ‘chat history’ building a powerful ‘knowledge data-base’. As the construction industry continues its drive to widely adopt BIM and digitisation BOMAG is at the forefront of the trend with a comprehensive array of systems which provide varying degrees on Continuous Compaction Control (CCC) on both light and heavy equipment. The BOMAG exhibit will feature examples of equipment enabled for CCC with systems from BOMAG and leading third parties through a VM 38 interface.
