BOMAG welcomes new trainees

06.09.2016. On 1 September 2016, 19 young men and women between 15 and 19 years of age started their new training year at BOMAG. The Boppard-based construction equipment manufacturer trains its future talent in a wide range of professions including as design mechanics, industrial mechanics, mechatronics engineers, industrial clerks and technical product designers. For the first time an Afghan refugee is completing an introductory qualification year at BOMAG as preparation for the two-year training programme to become a metallurgy specialist.


To launch the agenda at the start of the first training day the trainees were officially welcomed by HR Manager, Thomas Merfeld and Head of Training, Katja Hahn. They gave a brief insight into BOMAG as a company and the training scheme and introduced the trainer team. The trainees were then able to gain their first impressions of their future place of work in a factory tour through the different production halls. After a lunch together they were shown round the training centre and were given detailed information about their own specific training programmes. Once again this year a young woman has been hired for the presumed male domain of mechanical engineering and BOMAG is delighted to welcome its first female industrial mechanic trainee. There is also one other innovation explains Thomas Merfeld, HR Manager: “For the first time we are employing a young man from Afghanistan who is completing an introductory qualification year at BOMAG as preparation for a further training programme. We are fulfilling our corporate responsibility and also have another opportunity, alongside many other ways, to secure future specialist talent for BOMAG.”
 
 
 
The 19 new trainees are looking forward to starting work at BOMAG.
