BOMAG at bauma 2013:
BOMAG presents the new generation single drum rollers

BOMAG GmbH, Boppard, will be exhibiting its new generation of single drum rollers in the 5 – 8 t class for the first time at bauma 2013 in Munich, stand F 1009. These highly compact and economical machines combine power with easy handling: the perfect choice for small and medium job sites.

BOMAG, the global market leader in compaction technology, is launching the new generation BW 145 and BW 177 single drum rollers. High manoeuvrability, makes these compact and efficient machines at home in inner-city areas, horticulture and landscaping, and for civil engineering and highway construction projects. With their new design, these rollers meet the highest requirements for compaction, gradeability and efficiency.

The reconfigured vibration system reduces the risk of drum bounce for all roller types. In particular, the automatic amplitude control, BOMAG VARIO CONTROL, makes these new rollers ideal for compaction in sensitive areas.

ECOMODE and “engine stop“ function as standard
"Economical" was at the top of the BOMAG designers' list during the development of the BW 145 and BW 177. The standard integrated ECOMODE function allows the machine to adjust speeds according to work load intensity, resulting in up to 30% less fuel consumption. The “engine stop” function provides added efficiency by switching off the engine after a defined idle period, preventing unnecessary fuel consumption. Also, this new single drum roller generation operates with future-proof engine technology. The new level TIER 4 engines comply with the strictest eco requirements for exhaust emissions and run without additives.

Twin pump drive for more efficiency
The new dual circuit drive system with twin pumps for the front and rear axle improves traction and allows the rollers to handle obstacles with ease. These new BOMAG single drum rollers can tackle up to 56% gradients forwards or backwards effortlessly.

Practical and comfortable workplace
When designing these single drum rollers BOMAG made an extremely comfortable and easy to use workplace a high priority. With two access points, the machine operator is able to mount and dismount the machine from both sides easily and safely. The new operator's platform now offers even more room and storage space. The control panel is arranged logically and clearly so that even inexperienced operators will master the functions in a short time. This particularly applies to single drum rollers with BOMAG VARIOCONTROL. Here, BOMAG engineers were able to integrate other functions and significantly simplify operation at the same time. The compact design of the single drum rollers combined with large glass windscreens on the operator's platform ensure a safe overview on a busy construction site. In addition, the new rollers are highly manoeuvrable and the compact dimensions are especially suited for use in confined spaces. Two “track assistants” have been installed to aid the operator. Furthermore, the innovative articulated steering allows for automatic centering in the central position, enabling the operator to work long shifts without effort.

Transport made easy
As time influences the cost-effectiveness of projects on construction sites, transportation is vital for time management. BOMAG has created flexible solutions with the compact dimensions and easy access lashing rings for quick and straightforward loading. With a total height of just 2.65 m the machine also provides great flexibility when it comes to selecting transport.

Dozer blade with manual control
Users will appreciate another innovation in the BOMAG options catalogue for single drum rollers. On the BW 145 and BW 177 BOMAG is offering dozer blades which can be operated from the operator's seat by manual control instead of the earlier foot control; this increases both the application range of the machine. Convenient manual operation allows the operator to work more precisely and switch from one machine to another without major adjustment or learning time.

Maintenance and service made easy
In terms of service, BOMAG has considered everything as well: all maintenance points on the BW 145 and BW 177 are easily accessed from the ground; lubrication is not needed as with all previous models. Moreover, proven robust and durable BOMAG components accommodate long service intervals.
