VARIOCONTROL

Intelligent Compaction is provided by VARIOCONTROL rollers. The VARIOCONTROL enables the automatic adaption of the amplitude during the compaction process. The amplitude continuously adapts in such a way that areas which low bearing capacity are compacted with a high effective amplitude and areas with higher bearing capacity are compacted with a correspondingly lower effective amplitude. This allows the maximum possible compaction energy to be transferred at any time, without the drum entering the undesirable bounce mode or causing overcompaction.

The Terrameter BTM prof is standard with VARIOCONTROL rollers. Terrameter BTM plus/BTM prof are used as an integrated working tool for the continuous surface area assessment of compaction and load bearing capacity of soils and unbound bearing courses. Similar to the plate bearing tests used in earthworks and road construction, the BOMAG Terrameter  provides a direct test for soil stiffness in MN/m2 during the compaction process using the relationship between the soil contact force and the deflection of the roller drum. The measuring value is called vibration modulus EVIB [MN/m²]. The EVIB value is directly related to the deformation moduli EV1 or EV2 in the German standard DIN 18134 plate bearing test.

A special feature is also provided with the VARIOCONTROL rollers : five EVIB values (45, 80, 100, 120, 150 MN/m²) can be preselected as target results by the roller driver. Now efficient and uniform compaction is made possible through precise automated compaction control.
