Light equipment with 70% less hand-arm vibration

BOMAG significantly reduces the hand-arm vibration (HAV) of its entire light equipment portfolio. A redesign of the controls significantly reduces the vibration load on the operator's body. Whether for tampers, vibratory plates or walk-behind vibratory rollers, the improvement ensures extremely ergonomic machine operation. Light equipment can therefore be used for an almost unlimited time, special health instructions are unnecessary, documentation requirements are reduced to a minimum.


Boppard, 11.04.2016: With conventional hand-held construction machines, the transmitted vibration severely strains the operator's muscles and joints. To avoid use of the machine becoming a health hazard, there are strict legal requirements regarding operation time, preventive measures, and detailed documentation. But through the continuous minimization of vibration transmission in most of BOMAG's light equipment products; it is now possible for one person to operate the machines for practically an unlimited period.

The machine's vibrations act longer on the operator because of the lengthy deployment times of single direction and reversing vibratory plates. Conventional handles transmit the vibrations to the machine operator's palms and fingers, and prolonged exposure can lead to chronic complaints of the musculoskeletal system. BOMAG's newly designed handle absorbs a large proportion of the vibration, so that the operator works virtually independently of the machine vibration.

The new handle not only makes working with the vibratory plates more pleasant, BOMAG has revamped its entire hand-held light equipment with optimizations to handles, shafts and damping elements - including tampers and single / double drum vibratory rollers.

This makes working much more comfortable and the operator can concentrate fully on the requirements of the construction site. The work no longer needs to be interrupted because the permitted machine utilization time has been exceeded. Documentation requirements are reduced to a minimum. With acceleration values below 2.5 m/s, the BOMAG plates are below the statutory lower limit which make further technical and organizational measures necessary for the contractors. All in all, the work is not only more comfortable, but also more economical: The operating times of the equipment now only need to conform to the requirements of the site, and can be fully utilised with just one person.
